LIFE: A BREATH OF GIVE AND TAKE

Though I am 65+ now, still every day brings new lessons for me. Though, simple, but powerful was the realization of this today.  Each mind is a unique lens, shaped by individual experiences, beliefs, and emotions. No two perspectives are identical — and in that sense, it’s natural that people behave in ways that serve their understanding, their needs. To an outside observer, this may sometimes appear as selfishness. But it is, in reality, a reflection of our fundamental individuality. The real challenge arises when reality does not match your perspective. That’s when the mind is tested. How do you respond in such moments? Do you react — with frustration, anger, or disappointment? Or do you respond — with reflection, awareness, and maturity? Reacting emotionally without pause often throws us further off balance, disturbing our peace and pulling us toward resentment or impulsive actions. This can make the mind more unstable and clouded, preventing clear thinking. So, what can you do in such moments?
  1. Avoid assumptions. Don’t presume that others will understand your point of view — they might not. Instead, communicate your perspective clearly and respectfully. Be upfront about what you feel, what you believe, and what you expect.
  2. Acknowledge diversity of thought. Accept that others may think differently — and that’s okay. Different does not mean wrong. When we accept this truth, we reduce inner conflict.
  3. Prioritize clarity over control. Once you’ve expressed yourself honestly, let go of the need to control outcomes. If things still don’t go your way, don’t be disheartened. Not everything in life will go as expected. That’s not a failure — it’s just reality.
And most importantly — be there for yourself. In the end, you are the only one who truly walks every step with your own mind, your own heart. Others may accompany you, but only you can understand the full weight of your thoughts, your hopes, your emotions. So even when the world doesn’t align with your inner vision, strive to stay aligned with yourself. That’s more than enough.
