FAQ

Mindguide — Frequently Asked Questions

1. What is counselling, and how is it different from seeing a psychiatrist?

Counselling is a confidential, talk-based process where a trained psychologist helps you understand
your thoughts, emotions, and behaviour — and empower you
to work through them. Psychiatrist is a medical doctor who diagnoses and prescribes medication for
mental disorders.

Not at all. People who come for counselling are dealing with everyday challenges — stress, anxiety,
relationship conflicts, low confidence, work pressure, or major life transitions. Seeking help early is a
sign of self-awareness, not weakness.

Yes. What you share stays strictly between you and your counsellor. All you share is confidential as per
ethical policy of APA and Mental Healthcare Act, 2017. The only rare exceptions are situations
involving serious risk of harm to yourself or others — and even then, you will be informed first.

Mindguide is led by a trained counselling psychologist with an M.A. in Psychology and the unique perspective
gained from decades of leadership as a senior forest officer. Navigating complex human dynamics and diverse
challenges at the highest levels of governance has resulted in a deep, practical understanding of resilience,
adaptability, and human nature. The approach integrates advanced psychological modalities—including
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Transactional Analysis (TA) adapted sensitively to the Indian cultural
context.

There is no fixed number — it depends on what you bring. Many people notice meaningful shifts
within 6–10 sessions; some prefer ongoing support. Session fees are kept accessible and will be
shared upfront. There are no hidden charges.

Yes, online sessions via video call are available and work well for most concerns. Research consistently
shows that online counselling is as effective as in-person sessions.
